Story by Aaron J. R.

Greetings stranger, I’m writing this in the hopes it helps whoever else ends up in this bizarre place. It’s been three days here in this vacant city. I accidentally fell into this place and it’s only now I realize I am not gonna make it back. There are empty parks in here, a few empty restaurants, a movie theater, several islands too far away to visit and so much else. I see trains floating in the distance, wreckage from a spaceship I think, a castle, and there’s an odd amount of neon lights here but I don’t see a power source, and as far as I know I’m the only person here. I’ve been walking for miles hoping for a sign of some way of escape but empty silence is all I have found.

After 72 hours in this place I should probably just accept defeat by now and give in to despair, but for some reason I feel like I have to keep going. I can’t explain it but this place, for as lonely and dark as it seems, it’s had a profound effect on me. It feels like there is hope in the bleakness of the situation despite the unfairness of how I ended up here. One moment I was walking and then I slipped and felt a “pull” at my back. When I woke up I was laying here in a field of beautiful flowers. The sky was like a painting, an explosion of color and wonder. There is no telling if it’s night or day, I go by the time it was before I got here.

Although I can’t leave I will do what I can to keep going no matter what. To see my family again, to see everyone who’s probably wondering what happened to me. I wish to set their mind at ease and assure them I haven’t given up yet. And to you, reader, whoever you are and wherever you end up I urge you to not give up either. Create in your mind a path that rejects the notion you cannot make it towards your goal. Even if it seems the universe itself is against you remember that there is always a way forward. It’s with these words that I can keep walking, I must continue, no matter what.

Walk on, walk tall.

Regards to whomever finds this message,

A Stranger.
